Our Story

It all started when Alan and Brenda Buonaiuto, the founders of Carrot Signs, decided to stay in Maine after their first summer. They prepared for the long winter ahead by stocking up on food and, as part of their preparations, they visited a vegetable farm where they filled their car with carrots. After storing their haul in their root cellar, they decided they needed a sign for their growing business. The rest, as they say, is history. The sign that started it all is still on display at our shop today, and it all began with a simple idea: to create a sign shaped like a carrot.

Our team includes Jamie, the owner and lead designer, Carissa, who handles design and production, Angie, our production and fine arts specialist, and Alan and Brenda, the first-generation Carrot Crop.
